In her second year in office, Sen. Aisha Wahab has continued to leverage her experience as a local City Councilmember to create All-Star success in the state legislature, where she also now serves as Assistant Majority Leader. This year, in addition to supporting all progressive bills evaluated for Courage Score, her legislative efforts have focused on business transparency, worker protections, and public systems. She authored SB 1031 to permit the Bay Area Metropolitan Transportation Commission to raise and allocate revenue to ensure the fiscal viability and safety of the system, and SB 399 to protect workers against retaliation if they choose not to attend company meetings related to politics or religion. She also co-authored SB 1201 to remove the anonymity of LLC members and require that their names and mailing addresses be disclosed to the Insurance Commissioner’s office. A former organizer and activist, Sen. Wahab now serves as Chair of the Standing Committee on Housing, and has maintained a focus on creating meaningful protections for diverse California communities across her legislative portfolio.
