As Assemblymember Chris Holden fulfills his final term in the Assembly, he remains a seasoned legislator and reliable proponent of progressive legislation. As Chair of the Appropriations Committee and Co-Chair of the Select Committee on Corporate Board and California Workforce Diversity, he brought strategic leadership to budget allocation and the complex process of improving worker protections across the state. This session, he authored AB1228, which successfully increased the fast food worker minimum wage to $20/hour starting in spring 2024, and established a Fast Food Council to create improved working condition regulations for the industry. Assemblymember Holden has also been a longtime supporter of criminal justice reforms and creating more protections for incarcerated people, which has included his co-authorship of AB280 to limit the use of solitary confinement for certain populations, including youth, elderly, disabled, and pregnant individuals. With a perfect progressive voting record this session, Assemblymember Holden builds on his admirable career with continuous support for bills that create lasting policy change at the state and local level.
