People's Report Card of California

After earning a 98 in our 2023 Courage Score, Asm. Gregg Hart ends his first term in office as a newly minted All-Star. With a background that includes owning an early childhood center, leadership in Santa Barbara traffic policy, four terms on the Santa Barbara City Council, and a stint as a Santa Barbara County Supervisor, Asm. Hart has the background and expertise to bring effective progressive leadership to the state legislature. In 2024, he authored AB 1866 to accelerate the cleanup and plugging of idle oil wells across the state, and AB 2761 to reduce the use of toxins, including PFAS and PVC, in plastic packaging manufactured, sold, or distributed in the state. Along with these legislative contributions, he is a member of the California Legislative Progressive Caucus, and currently serves as Chair of the Budget Subcommittee on Accountability and Oversight. Asm. Hart is laying a legislative foundation that centers the health and safety of Californians, and advocates for increased transparency across industries and issues.
