Senator Stern earns his first All-Star designation after building on his advocacy for climate protections and wildfire prevention during the last two legislative sessions. Leveraging his background as an environmental attorney, he currently serves as the Chair of the Joint Legislative Committee on Climate Change Policies, and as the Senate’s Ex Officio member to the California Air Resources Board. This session, he co-authored two successful pollution accountability bills, SB253 and SB261, that require corporations above the $500 million revenue threshold to meet certain emissions reporting requirements annually. As co-author of SB252, he has helped to reintroduce legislation that stalled in 2022 to require state pensions to be divested from fossil fuels by 2031. He has also worked on impactful healthcare legislation, including authoring SB779 to expand reporting requirements to include Community Health Center data on labor, revenue, and workforce development. In focusing on a variety of issue areas, Senator Stern has found myriad ways to make a progressive impact on the health and wellness of Californians and their environment.
