People's Report Card of California

In the 2023-2024 session, Asm. Josh Lowenthal emerged as a proactive advocate for criminal justice reform, environmental protection, and public health. Representing a district which includes Long Beach, a city grappling with a legacy of police violence, Asm. Lowenthal backed 11 key criminal justice bills, including AB 1306 to protect incarcerated individuals from being transferred to ICE, helping to establish a firewall against the abuses of the Trump administration today. With Long Beach hosting one of the nation’s largest urban oil fields, Asm. Lowenthal’s support for several pieces of legislation strengthening oil field and gas drilling regulations have defined his term as an environmental champion for a community severely impacted by the fossil fuel industry.
