Senator Wiener continues to demonstrate his commitment to pro-equality advocacy by working collaboratively with community organizations and his legislative colleagues to move progressive bills forward. During the 2021 legislative cycle, he authored three bills focused on nondiscrimination and inclusivity around issues including gender affirming care and treatment for methamphetamine addiction. He was instrumental in writing and passing SB 357, which successfully repealed a law that criminalized loitering with the intent to engage in sex work and unfairly targeted trans women and women of color. Sen. Wiener has developed a legislative approach that consistently centers impacted voices, and urges his colleagues toward difficult and righteous votes for the benefit of marginalized communities.
