Represents: San Gabriel Valley, El Monte, Covina, big oil
Supports: Helping oil and gas companies dodge accountability, limiting housing reform
Opposes: Environmental protections, regulating private prisons
Shameful Vote: Voted against bills to expand housing development, despite representing a constituency that voted strongly in favor of building housing for the homeless.
Dirty Money: $2.8mil was spent to support Rubio by Coalition to Restore California’s Middle Class, which is primarily funded by oil, gas, and energy companies and nearly $400k from energy PAC Keep California Golden.
What Were They Thinking?: In 2014, a former Baldwin Park city employee alleged that Rubio, then a City Councilwoman, had forced him out of his job as retaliation for his “refusing to provide favors and concessions” to friends, family members and organizations that supported her and another Councilmember.
