Susan Rubio once bragged that she and sister Blanca were “Donald Trump’s worst nightmare.” We’d say these two might also be the oil industry’s dream come true. On bill after bill — AB1371, AB1200, AB1395, SB47, just to name a few — the sisters have a habit of siding with the corporations destroying our planet instead of enacting meaningful, commonsense regulation of single-use plastics, airborne toxins, and other pollutants. What’s worse, folks on the ground in West Covina tell us the Rubios actively recruit candidates to run for office by teaching them how the game is played: vote with the oil companies, and they’ll keep donating to your campaigns forever. Talk about polluting the environment.
