Represents: Concord, Antioch, and big money interests
Supports: Talking big on progress, but voting for the status quo
Opposes: Any effort to protect consumers from corporate greed
Shameful Vote: On the bills evaluated for this year’s scorecard, Asm. Grayson recorded a lone ‘No’ vote on AB 2441, which reduces juvenile justice involvement by eliminating the discriminatory requirement that school personnel are mandated to report disruptive behavior or student drug possession to law enforcement authorities. In a year when he didn’t bother to cast a vote on over 15 other bills, voting No on a piece of legislation designed to protect young people from criminal justice involvement seems like a very public nod to the law enforcement organizations who power his campaign fundraising.
What were they thinking?: During his successful 2024 run for SD-09, Asm. Grayson took a 23-day tour of Chico and the surrounding communities where he noted that his future constituents had one consistent and prevailing message – the cost of housing is too high. He even publicly agreed with that sentiment, noting that he wanted a housing market that his own children could buy into. However, when it came time to stand up for housing affordability, Asm. Grayson was nowhere to be found. He failed to vote on AB 2584 to prohibit corporations from purchasing interest in more than 1,000 single-family homes, and was a frequent recipient of donations from corporate real estate interests. His campaign commentary on affordability was insincere at best and willfully misleading at worst.
